Our Lady of Wisdom is located on the Westbank of the Mississippi River, adjacent to Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent and College. The facility is a short 12 minute ride from downtown New Orleans.
OLW is licensed by the State of Louisiana, offering 138 beds for skilled care and intermediate care servicing long term care needs. There are 54 semi-private beds and 84 private beds. Each room has a bathroom with a private toilet and lavatory. Once accepted as a resident, an individual is given a bedroom assignment based on their needs and care requirements. We provide care for dementia and Alzheimer needs of residents within the facility, as well as in the program offerings.
A clinic in the facility offers a full staff and program of rehabilitative services–including physical, occupational, and speech therapy which is available to residents. Within the clinic, there is space for physician exams and conference rooms, as well as dental and podiatry care. There is plan for a future opening of Out - Patient Rehab Services.
OLW offers a comprehensive Pastoral Care Program to provide for the spiritual, personal and emotional needs of the residents. The facility has a beautiful Chapel reserved for the Spiritual Liturgical program offered. We give special attention in planning the spiritual program so as to include and honor the distinct charism and devotions of each Religious Congregation. Celebrations of Congregations’ patronal feasts and events are an integral part of the daily and yearly activities. Daily Mass is offered at 11:00 am and we welcome residents and friends to join in this daily service. Chaplains and Ministers of other Church affiliated groups are always welcomed to visit with members of their congregations.
Additional features of the OLW facility are: Hair Salon, Gift shop, Auditorium, Activity Rooms, numerous sitting areas, beautiful patios and gardens so as to provide for the diverse needs of all residents. A pool for Aquatic Therapy and Greenhouse are planned for future development to complete the full spectrum of services offered to residents and their families.
